Musings on art, music and touring

Meri Kenaz while drawing The Swallow-tree

I’m sitting on the couch, hovering between brainstorming with André over my new website’s layout, viewing a podcasting tutorial, and drawing on the new less-textured-for-better-scanning-in-of-pen-drawing board I got today.

See, I’ve been working on the artwork, designs and packaging for my new single, Branches, and it’s got my head spinning with new ideas, and fresh approaches to art. For one thing, we’ve become so used to the mass-produced crap that we see everywhere, that it’s easy to forget the beauty of intricate, handmade, personal products. After all, adding your own touch, doing things your way instead of trying to live up to the taken for granted ideal, is what will make your life really rich, not true?

So I’ve added some little extras to my new single. It’s hand packaged, self-designed, and includes some prints of drawings I made that relates to the songs in one way or another. I always enjoy approaching the stuff I write about from different angles, and pen drawings give me a lot of creative satisfaction while doing so.

It’s been a rush to get it done, but taken great care in creating a package I can be proud of. I’ll have it available for the biggest part of my tour with Dan Patlansky. It’s been an absolute honour to tour with him so far, as it was on his previous tour last year, launching his latest release, Move my Soul. What a lovely man and an inspiration to any musician!

Keep an eye on the Upcoming Shows section to see when I’m next in your town. I’d love to show you my latest recording and handy work. And while you’re here register on the website to choose which newsletter you want to receive. I’ll stay in touch to let you know about shows in your area, new happenings, fresh releases, preferential ticket sales etc.

I look forward to hearing from you.
Peace to you!
