Press Release
26 June 2010
Extended shows have just been confirmed for acoustic Soul-Folk musician, Meri Kenaz at this year’s Grahamstown National Arts Festival. The festival has been quiet till Thursday, but people flowing into the not-too-chilly Grahamstown, can do well to book tickets for the fiery performance this festival newcomer brings.
The first week of festival has seen keen interest into Meri Kenaz's performance. CUE's Isabel Rawlins has this to say about her: "Meri Ké's voice comes close to capturing the passion and intensity of human nature. The power and passion of her playing does true justice to the incredible quality of her voice". In a lengthy and animated article, Mike Loewe writes in the official National Arts Festival Blog: "Young, outrageously talented, sublimely thoughtful, an original original. This pixie chick-in-a-chic black bubble-skirted number, stockings to her ankles, rocking the Cuervo stage with her … bare feet … She performs. Pure energy, rays beaming and belting out of her like a celestial fountain" (See http://www.artsblog.co.za/?p=909 for full article).
